Trialist Castro and Nolan in U23s at Hull
Friday, 16th Aug 2019 19:09

Trialist Quevin Castro joins returning midfielder Jon Nolan in the Town U23s side facing Hull City away this evening (KO 7pm).

Former Thetford Town midfielder Castro, who is 18 this month, played in the U23s friendlies at AFC Sudbury, in which he scored, Lowestoft Town and Maldon & Tiptree, as well as behind-closed-doors games against Tottenham and Arsenal.

Portuguese-born Castro, who started his career in Sporting Lisbon's academy, recently revealed that he had been offered a further eight-week spell with the Blues while the club look to have a one-year professional deal signed off by owner Marcus Evans.

However, Castro, the brother of Valter Rocha, top scorer in the Thurlow Nunn last season, and current Brecklander Telmo Rocha, said that while he’s keen to join Town Premier League Leicester and West Ham had also shown interest, which so far he has rebuffed.

Prior to joining up with the Town U23s Castro had been with National League Sutton United for their pre-season preparations.

Manager Paul Lambert said this morning that he was deciding whether Nolan would play as he continues his comeback after his calf injury.

U23s: Wright, Cotter, Fehrenbach, Ndaba (c), T Smith, Crowe, Castro, Nolan, Foudil, K Brown, Simpson. Subs: Bort, Scott, Gibbs, Z Brown, Baggott.
