Sevilla have signed striker Javier Hernandez on a three-year deal from West Ham United for an undisclosed fee.

The 31-year-old Mexico forward handed in a transfer request on Friday and had flown to Spain for a medical.

Hernandez's Hammers future had been uncertain following the arrival of club record signing Sebastien Haller from Eintracht Frankfurt in July.

West Ham signed Hernandez from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen for £16m in 2017.

A positive start to this season for Manuel Pellegrini's side, along with Hernandez having less than a year remaining on his contract, convinced the Hammers to agree to the player's request to leave.

The former Manchester United forward made 55 Premier League appearances for the Hammers, scoring 16 goals, including one this season.

"The club would like to thank Chicharito for his contribution and wish him all the best in his future career," a West Ham statement said.

    Top, top player in his day but his best days are behind him.

    Still capable of that all important bit of "magic" but just not consistently applied any more.

    I'm sure all Hammers will remember him with huge fondness coming on against Huddersfield last season, scoring 2 quick goals, securing our 40 points & settling our forever frayed nerves.....Priceless.

    Another good bit of business by Pelli' and his team - WHU shaping up nicely this season - I believe Chico was on a humungous amount of cash, so although he would've been a useful squad player, it makes sense to offload his wages and make way for additions in future transfer windows COYI

    Would've loved for him to come back to old Trafford. A real goal poacher and the sort of player we need. Ole talking about we haven't got anyone to score scrappy goals, well there goes 1 of our best in recent history at doing that heads to Spain for pennies from West ham.     Good luck to him. A true professional and from what I can remember, never been one of the petulant players that throws his toys out the pram to get a move or get more playing time.

    I was excited when we signed him but his been disappointing , would have liked to keep him til January now as we are short haller and ajeti who is yet tested but is what it is COYI and good luck chica

    I was hoping he would be our first prolific striker since the days of Cottee and McAvennie. Sadly, he ever got a regular run out and definitely isn't the goalscorer that he used to be.

    Too many faux-Irons on these pages though, bemoaning a lack of strikers and blaming the owners. Learn to count: Yarmalenko, Anderson, Haller, Ajeti, Antonio. We have strength in depth for first time ever.

    Look people, in the end He put in a transfer request??? If someone's not happy it causes unrest in the dressing room, and the players ability to perform? So best all round he goes . Only had 8 months left on his contract so good business or he would have gone for nothing. Old fashioned goal hanger anyway times have changed????

    Good luck to him. Solid pro who didn't spit his dummy out, threaten to strike or bad mouth the club. A victim of the negativity strangling modern football of playing one up front. He is a striker but modern football favours a centre forward. How I long for the day's of playing two up top. Then ppl like him thrive. Hope this move works out for him and he has found an environment he can thrive in.

    The odorous stench of stale anoraks from the friendless & the lonely trolling this board is almost overpowering.

    There was once a time (& not that long ago) when "a Chica" would have been our best player with all hopes resting on whether he was in form or not.

    As a lifelong, suffering, Hammer & for the first time in a long time, we are showing real promise, direction & purpose.

    Chica wasn't used properly, his stats are more impressive per minute than most realise so good luck to him in La Liga, he'll enjoy goals galore there.

    United had 6 or more crosses into the box last week and no one there to connect. That is what Hernandez does. He connects the ball into the goal. But everyone wants him tackling in his own goal area. Hardly surprising he didn't perform, he was at the wrong end of the pitch. He works well with a charging counter attacking, high pressure side. Good luck to him wherever he lands. Class
